When I printed the Epson standard, it wasn't far off which is great but when I printed on the Epson Premium Glossy Paper profile, it looks very good. In the print preview all but one (Epson Standard) showed a very red cast. I tried all the Epson profiles as Dominic suggested and that was interesting. I enabled this and it may have had an affect.

My environment (using daylight) is 8.2ev. This give's me a reading (using a white page) of 6.1ev which calculates to 9.18Cd. I measured my monitor (after turning the brightness down to 50% - the HP 2309v defaults at 80% brightness and 80% contrast). And I use the factory supplied profiles for my Epson Papers with no problem of dark prints with any of these papers. I should point out also that I, too, own an Epson 3880 Printer. These plots are perfectly corelated, linear with zero intercept. to obtain a plot meter read luminance as a function of monitor set value. I simply set a luminance value in the monitor, then take a meter reading. This feature made it easy for me to "check on the validity of my light meter readinigs. With this monitor you can numerically set any desired luminance and color temperature by merely typing the value in a software form and applying the value. This systematic approach, is guaranteed to eliminate the dark print mystery.Ī bit of background: I happen to own a very high quality monitor, an HP LP2490zx. This needs to be comparable in value to that of your monitor. Again, point your light meter at the paper and measure the luminance.
